What is PPF OR Clear Bra?

PPFs are urethane based films that can be wrapped around all or part of your vehicle to protect against damage to your car’s paint.

Urethane is a material with the properties of plastic like being lightweight and transparent. However unlike plastic, it does not crack, it’s very flexible, and it resists abrasion and corrosion.

PPF Protects Your Paint From…

Rocks, bugs, sand, keys, salt – the elements can damage your paint. Protect it with our clear, 8 mil thick paint protection film. We professionally apply it to the high-impact, vulnerable areas of your vehicle.

Physical Damage

Most PPF’s have a “self-healing” property, meaning that they have a tendency to return to their previous state after it absorbs light damage. This means some small abrasions made by small rocks and road debris can diminish after impact.

Chemical Damage

Urethane film resists corrosion. It acts as a barrier against staining and etching from bird droppings, bug splatter, mineral deposits, and acid rain.

Sunlight Damage

Another benefit of urethane films is that exposure to sunlight does not cause oxidation. It also provides the paint protection from UV rays which can cause fading

1. Prepare Existing Paint

We make sure your paint is completely free of dust, tar, and oil. We make sure no unwanted material is cuaght between the ppf and the surface of the paint.

After we’ve removed all the exterior debris, we will look at the condition of the original paint job. If there are significant wear and tear such as spider-webbing or swirl marks we will recomend paint correction which is a process of using a cutting compound and polishing. This will leave a good surface for the ppf to bond with and will look good after ppf application.

Before the application begins we do one last wipe down with proprietory solutions to remove any remaining contaminants.

2. Pre-Cutting & Fitting

Since time is of the essence during the actual application process, we need all the necessary pieces ready at hand when we need them.

The acuracy of the cuts will have a big impact on final look process. This is why we use a machine called a Plotter to cut our film with digital precision.

3. Apply Fitting Solution

The application begins by spraying an activating solution, known as Fitting Solution. This chemical is sprayed on to the adhesive layer of the ppf and to the paint. The fitting solution and adhesive layer allow the pieces to be moved into place for a short time before drying.

4. Application and Final Fitting

Once the individual pieces and the paint surface is covered with fitting solution, our techs work like artists to position each piece into place. We will use squeegees to remove all the bubbles and creases in the ppf or clear bra.

5. Drying

The ppf is heat activated. That’s why we use heat guns to finish the process of adhesion creating a tight fit.
